We at the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota have been collaborating with schools,
communities and public health agencies since 2013 to increase the opportunities for all young children to be physically active, safe and healthy through education of safe walking and biking skills. Pedestrian and bicycle safety education is important to the safety and health of everyone who wishes to use active transportation. Starting to teach young children sound and safe habits is the best way to begin establishing a life-long habit to walk and bike for not only transportation but leisure and exercise. We will present information about our newly revised curriculum for pedestrian and bicycle safety. It encompasses lessons and activities for all children, including activity modification and an adaptive toolkit. The curriculum meets MN Physical Education Standards and Benchmarks.
